14.  What kind of damages are recoverable in a wrongful death claim?

The following damages may be recovered in a wrongful death action in Kentucky:

  1. Funeral expenses are recoverable by victim's estate.
     
  2. Destruction of  victim's earning power is recoverable by his estate.
     
  3. Loss of affection and companionship for a minor child is recoverable by the surviving parent.
     
  4. Punitive damages in certain cases.
